A note for parents: This is a dad-run day camp for friends and family — not a licensed childcare program. There's no business behind this, just a dad doing an experiment with an AI-forward day camp with stuff he likes doing with kids. All instruction is in Spanish (kids help each other translate). I need to know you and feel comfortable with the fit before accepting your kid(s). If you're reading this, I probably sent you the link, so if you have any questions just ping me!

What Is This?

An inaugural day camp run by one dad for friends and family.

Philosophy

I was inspired by Jordan Shapiro's The New Childhood, which argues that instead of limiting kids' screen time, we should teach them to use technology with integrity — playing together, creating together, building digital skills alongside real-world ones. So I decided I'd give it a try: a camp where kids build video games with AI, do karaoke, make art, and play outside — all in the same day.

All instruction is in Spanish. Kids who know Spanish help translate for friends who don't. That's how it becomes fun, not homework. The idea is simple: if Spanish is what the cool kids at camp speak, everyone wants to speak it too. No prior Spanish needed.

A Taste of Camp

FAQ

How much does it cost?
Voluntary donations to cover food, supplies, and logistics. This isn't a business.
How many kids?
Small by design. Depends on interest and how many counselors I can recruit.
What should my kid bring?
Water bottle, sunscreen, clothes that can get messy. Sleeping bag for Tuesday night! We provide lunch (bring your own if dietary restrictions).
My kid has never been to camp. Is that ok?
Yes. Small friendly group, not a giant camp. Great low-pressure first experience.
Do kids need to know how to code, play music, or speak Spanish?
No. No prior experience needed for anything. That's the point.
Food allergies or special needs?
Tell me when you express interest. We provide lunch, but if your kid has dietary restrictions please bring their own or let us know. For other accommodations, reach out.
What if it rains?
It's the PNW. We plan for rain. Coding, art, music, and karaoke all work indoors.
This is awesome, can parents come too?!
Of course, we'd love your ideas and help. Come to the Mon/Wed evening events at minimum. Welcome to stick around anytime.
